Our History

In 2000 Joe and Lisa Horner moved with their 5 children to Kiryadongo Refugee camp in Uganda.  Their desire was to help the Sudanese who were suffering.  Joe became the director of the mission partnering with Saving Grace World Missions and Far Reaching Ministries. A peace agreement was reached in Sudan in 2004, and the Horners knew they could not survive with their now 7 children in Sudan.  When they came back to the U.S., their hearts remained with the Sudanese.  They had built a medical center, oversaw a bible college, ran a feeding center and took care of 9 orphans.  Many of those ministries came to an end, but what remained on their hearts was what to do with their 9 orphans? One night Joe couldn’t sleep because of his concern for his orphans.  He began to cry out to God for a solution for these children.  God spoke to Joe in his heart at that moment.  He told Joe that these were not Joe’s kids.  These were His (God’s) Kids and that He would take care of His Kids through His church.  That was the beginning of HisKids, which is now operating in S. Sudan, Uganda and Haiti. Hiskids is a project of the non-profit Saving Grace World Missions.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
